Future MAC, Is It The Future?

Ok Trenders, feast your eyes on this!  This is the future!  Says MAC Cosmetics?  With a collection called "Future MAC" you know I had to get my hands on this.  This collection had much from the future but I was only interested in a few select items from this collection.  A huge chunk stayed in the past.  No on to the future!

Mineralize Rich Lipsticks in the shade from left to right.
"Touch The Earth"Meta Fabulous" "Cybernaut" and "Ionized"

Mineralize Rich Lipsticks swatches from left to right.
"Touch The Earth"Meta Fabulous" "Cybernaut" and "Ionized"

I am a huge fan of lipsticks and tend to purchase all the lipsticks in a collection.  So leaving behind "Super Nova" was not intentional.  I happen to pre-order this collection and the MAC representative  assisting me gave me two of "Touch The Earth"  in stead of one "Touch The Earth" and one "Super Nova".  When I figured out the mix up and returned one of the duplicate "Touch The Earth"  lipsticks and purchase "Super Nova".  While swatching "Super Nova" I decided it was not for me.  Thats how that got left in the past.  Now, on to the future.

These futuristic Mineralize lipsticks retail for $23.00 each.  Somehow this packaging got left in the past, having the same packaging as the present Mineralize Lipsticks.  I like that these have a magnetic closure to keep them closed in handbags and what not.  I just wished these would have had futuristic packaging.  Come on this is the future, right?

I have to admit that these lipsticks wear nicely.  I happen to be in love with "Cybernaut".   This shade is an amazing neutral pink that for me wears like my lips but better.  I now carry "Cybernaut" in my makeup bag and it has been  my go to lippie.  As for the other shades in this collection "Tough The Earth" in a neutral muddy brown tone.  Sadly this does not look good on my skin tone and happens to match my freckles, not looking all that hot on my lips.  "Meta-Fabulous" is a soft metallic white peach.  As heart breaking as this is going to sound.  "Meta-Fabulous" broke in half shortly after unpacking on its first swatch, let the tears fall.  I almost had a heart attack.  These lipsticks are that delicate.  Last but not least  "Ionized", not to my surprise, is a metallic soft silver/grey shade keeping up with the trends.   I was not all that impressed with this shade.  This is slightly sheer and has purple undertones.  When worn, my natural lip color shows thru.  I want this to work, so I'm still playing with it to make this a great wearable grey tone lippie.

As a collection I like these lipsticks, but I felt that this could have had a tad bit more pop.  Maybe some glitters,  purples, blues or even a shade of white.  I mean this is the future LOL!

Mineralize Skin Finish "Otherearthly"

Swatch of "Otherearthly" three shades alone from left to right and to the far right all three mixed together

The star of the collection "Otherearthly"!  This little gem retails for $32.00.  This not only can be used as a face and body highlight but as an eyeshadow.  This is beautiful and I can't get over the middle pink shade that is a breathtaking pink opalescence.  When all three mix up they create a beautiful rose gold.  I have been using this as my go to highlight.  As far as the packaging, I'm a tad bid annoyed LOL.  This has a magnetic closure but not an overhang lip to grip to flip the lid open.  I have darn near broken a nail and had to get creative with washi tape creating a pull tab.  Whoever designed this packaging must not have once opened it.

 Mineralize Skin Finish "Warm Rose"

Swatch of Mineralize Skin Finish "Warm Rose"

Ok, if this is the future then it brought the 90s with it.  Meet the love of my life "Warm Rose"  we met at MAC and now are inseparable.  Yes, it's that serious!  This Skinfinish retails for $32.00.  This is a beautiful soft opalescence with fuchsia reflects in it.  I'm not trying to wear this as a highlight.  I'm trying to wear this as an all over highlight and shine like a 90s glitter girl going to her first dance!   This too has that ridiculous magnetic packaging that looks pretty but is harder then heck to open.  Ugh!

Mineralize Blush in "Ray Beam"

Swatch of Mineralize Blush in "Ray Beam"

Above is a heavy handed swatch of "Ray Beam" retailing for $27.00.  I have a thing for a soft light blush.  I feel it gives a nice blushing glow to my face and not an over done (bam! in your face) bright shade.  Unfortunately this shade may be everything I like in a blush color.  Unfortunately this does not transfer well from brush to face.  This has no pigmentation to it.  I know by looking at the swatch it may appear to have some pigmentation but as I previously stated its a heavy handed finger rubbing swatch.  I feel on lighter skin tones this would be beautiful.  On me, this just did not show.  I was even advised to use a flattop foundation brush to better pack on the blush.  Honestly I'm not trying to work that hard to achieve beautifully faux blushed cheeks. If I'm going to pay $27.00 for a blush, I want it to show on my cheeks.  Also this too had that horrible to open packaging but pretty to look at.

As a collection from what I purchased, I like it but did not love it.  As far as it being futuristic and finding its inspiration from the five elements?  Well, I'm still not completely sure what five elements it's finding its inspiration.  Nowhere is it clearly stated.  From the name alone I thought this was going to be futuristic as in out of this world or 2050.  From  my understating this is MAC's new generation of its  cosmetics.  I would have liked makeup items never seen before and jaw dropping color pallets that have never been used before.  Some jaw dropping colors that have never been combined to make an exquisite futuristic look.  The two items that stood out to me, were the Skin Finishes.  The two of them were the icing on the cake other then that I could take it or leave it.
